If you have parented a child, you are liable for child support payments.

The method for calculating child support is relatively straightforward. The basic support obligation is based upon both parents Monthly Net Income and the number of children for whom support is being paid.

Both parent's income is used to calculate the basic support obligation, and each parent is responsible for their respective percentage of the combined income.

There are several areas that the obligor parent can take credit for payments made apart from the basic support obligation and reduce the actual transfer payment.

There are also limitations on the actual transfer amount. For example, the transfer payment cannot be more than 45% of the monthly net income.
